Admin bans trekking, camping at Margan, Sinthan Tops, cites security concerns

Anantnag: The authorities in Anantnag district have banned trekking, camping, hiking and other similar outdoor activities in Margan Top, Chauhar Nag and Sinthan Top areas, citing security and public safety concerns.

According to an order, a copy of which lies with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag said that inputs from police and security agencies indicated security vulnerabilities in certain high-altitude and forested areas falling under Sub-Division Kokernag.

He also mention the recent incidents in which some individuals attempted to cross police check-points during late night hours, raising serious safety concerns.

He said that unrestricted movement and outdoor activities in these sensitive areas could adversely affect public safety and security. The order will remain valid for two months unless withdrawn or extended.

The Station House Officer Larnoo has been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order and regulate movement at all check-points, while general public has been strictly advised to comply, with authorities warning that any violation will invite action under law—(KNO)
