Dense Fog Disrupts Air Traffic in Jammu, Six Flights Cancelled and Delayed

Jammu, Dec 30,: Dense fog continued to disrupt air traffic operations at Jammu Airport on Tuesday, leading to the cancellation of six flights and delays in ten others, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Airport officials said visibility dropped significantly during morning hours due to thick fog, making landing and takeoff operations unsafe. As a result, several inbound and outbound flights were either cancelled or rescheduled, while stranded passengers were seen waiting for updated flight information at the terminal.

Officials added that foggy conditions have been affecting air operations in Jammu for the past few days, particularly during early morning and late evening hours, disrupting normal flight schedules.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast a change in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir, with the possibility of snowfall in higher reaches and rain in plains on New Year’s Eve.

According to the MeT department, light to moderate snowfall is expected in upper reaches of Kashmir and parts of Jammu region, while lower areas may experience rainfall. The department has advised people to remain cautious, especially tourists and travellers planning to visit hilly destinations during the New Year period.

Authorities have also urged airline passengers to check flight status with airlines before heading to the airport, as weather related disruptions may continue depending on visibility conditions. [KNT]
