Police Impose Restrictions on Trekking in Tangmarg Forest Areas

Baramulla, Dec 29,: Baramulla Police on Monday issued a safety advisory imposing restrictions on trekking activities in forest areas of Tangmarg following an unauthorised trekking incident reported in the Danwas forest area on December 21.

According to the advisory, local inhabitants intending to enter upper forest reaches must obtain requisite permissions from the concerned local authorities and inform the local police or administration in advance. However, for non-local tourists, entry and trekking in upper forest areas have been strictly prohibited under all circumstances.

Police said the measures have been put in place to ensure public safety and to prevent any security-related misunderstandings in sensitive forest zones of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla.

Baramulla Police urged the public to cooperate with the instructions in the larger interest of maintaining a secure environment and avoiding any untoward incidents.[KNT]
