Fire Guts Three-Storey House in Lal Bazar

Srinagar, Dec 29,: A three-storey residential house was completely gutted in a fire incident reported on Monday morning at Umar Colony, Lal Bazar in Srinagar. No loss of life or injuries were reported.

Officials said the State Fire Control Room, Batamaloo received a call, following which fire tenders from Hazratbal and Nowshehra fire stations were rushed to the spot. Due to the congested locality and lack of an immediate water source, additional reinforcements were pressed into service.

Fire crews found the structure fully engulfed and launched firefighting operations. After sustained efforts, the fire was contained to the affected house, preventing its spread to nearby structures.

The operation was led by Divisional Fire Officer Headquarters Muzaffar Ali Bhat under the supervision of Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services Dr Mir Aqib Hussain. The cause of the fire is under investigation. [KNT]
