Srinagar :Buoyed by his role in the recent Rajya Sabha election and Assembly by-elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has given a key role to Leader Sunil Kumar Sharma in the election management of Assam, scheduled to go to polls next year.
The BJP has appointed Sharma as co-incharge of elections for Assam, which will go to polls next year.
Sharma’s appointment comes in the backdrop of the BJP stunning everyone in the recent J&K RS polls when it secured eight more votes than expected.
While the BJP was polled 32 votes, four more than its expected 28 votes, four other votes expected to go to the NC were either cancelled or voted for the candidate against the expectation of the NC-led alliance.
Known for his managerial skills and engineering, Sharma is also understood to have played a key role in ensuring the defeat of the ruling alliance in one of the two seats in the recent by-elections.
Sharma has also played a key role in BJP victories in Chenab, where it won four out of eight seats in the last assembly elections.
