Budgam, Dec 11,: Police in Budgam on Thursday said they detected serious violations of immigration and tourism norms during routine inspections of hotels, guest houses and homestays in the Humhama area.
According to police, a foreign national had been accommodated at Homestay Rose Cottage, located in Friends Enclave, Humhama, without the mandatory submission of Form C, which is required for registering foreign guests with the authorities. Police said the management had deliberately failed to file the document.
Officers further stated that upon verification on the Form C portal under IVFRT, it was found that the homestay was not registered with the Tourism Department, a requirement for establishments hosting foreign nationals. Police said the dual violation indicated disregard for legal procedures governing foreign guest accommodation.
Following the inspection, FIR No. 337/2025 was registered at Police Station Budgam under Sections 8 and 23(b) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 against the management of the homestay. Investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances under which the foreign national was lodged and whether additional violations have occurred.
Budgam Police urged all hotel, guest house, individual house and homestay owners to strictly follow legal procedures, including timely submission of Form C through the designated online portal, to avoid action under immigration laws. [KNT]
