BSF jawan found dead in Samba canal, CRPF constable dies of suspected cardiac arrest

Jammu, Dec 9,: A Border Security Force jawan was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Tuesday.

They said the deceased was identified as Constable Sukhdeep Singh, a resident of Ferozpur in Punjab. His body was found lying in a canal near Rehiyan village on Monday evening. Locals noticed the body and immediately shifted him to District Hospital Samba, where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to officials, preliminary findings suggest that the jawan was travelling on a motorcycle and may have accidentally fallen into the canal. Police have initiated inquest proceedings to determine the exact cause of death, and further investigation is underway.

In a separate incident, a Central Reserve Police Force constable died after collapsing inside a camp in the Nagrota area of Jammu late Monday night. Officials said the constable suddenly fell unconscious and could not be revived.

The body was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem and completion of legal formalities. Officials said the prima facie cause of death appears to be cardiac arrest, though the exact cause will be confirmed after medical examination.

Police have taken cognizance of both incidents. [KNT]
