Separate Road Accidents in Rajouri and Udhampur Leave Three Dead, Five Injured

Jammu, Dec 3: In two separate road accidents reported from Rajouri and Udhampur districts on Wednesday, three people lost their lives and at least five others sustained injuries, prompting swift police and emergency response across both locations. The crashes, occurring on the Jammu–Rajouri road near Chingus and the Tikri stretch in Udhampur, have once again highlighted the growing concerns over road safety in the region.

In the first incident, a Swift car (JK12D 7568) travelling from Jammu towards Rajouri lost control and rammed into a roadside parapet near Chingus. The impact killed two passengers — Naik Singh (53) of Waripattan and Muhammad Yaqoob (45) of Saila Surankote — on the spot. Three others, identified as Muhammad Farooq of Saila Surankote, driver Muhammad Sageer of Digwar Poonch, and Muhammad Mushtaq of Kakora Manjakote, were injured and shifted to GMC Rajouri for treatment. Police said preliminary findings point to loss of control, while mechanical failure and road conditions are also being probed.

In a separate mishap on the Tikri stretch of Udhampur district, Waleed Ahmad, a driver from Bemina Srinagar, died after his vehicle met with a severe accident. Two co-travellers suffered critical injuries and were moved to a nearby medical facility, where they remain under intensive care. Police have registered cases in both incidents and launched investigations to determine the exact causes of the crashes.
