We have requested booksellers to return any books containing errors so they can be replaced: Assistant Secretary JKBOSE

Srinagar, Nov 29: At least 16 pages are missing from the Class 6 History textbook issued by the J&K Board of School Education (JK BOSE), triggering anger and concern among parents.
The issue came to light after several parents from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district purchased the History textbook for their wards and later found that pages from 9 to 24 were missing.
“We returned to the bookseller but he told us that he received the stock from JK BOSE and refused to take the book back,” one of the aggrieved parents told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
Parents apprehend that the error could affect the academic learning of students at the beginning of the new term. They questioned how such faulty textbooks could pass through official checks and be supplied to the market.
The parents have appealed to the concerned authorities, particularly the Education Minister and JK BOSE officials, to immediately look into the matter, fix responsibility and issue fresh, error-free History textbooks so that students are not put to any further inconvenience.
When KINS contacted Assistant Secretary, Textbooks, JKBOSE, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, he said they have requested booksellers to return any books containing errors so they can be replaced.
“Textbooks are dispatched in bundles and are not individually checked either at the source or by booksellers. We have told them that if there is any misprint, we will take the books back and issue fresh copies,” he added. (KINS)
