“To become a suicide bomber, a cowardly act: Ravinder Raina

Kulgam: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma and senior BJP leader Ravinder Raina on Tuesday visited Haari village in Kulgam to offer condolences to the family of Constable Arshad Ahmad Shah, the Crime Branch photographer who died in the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station.

The leaders met the family members of the deceased constable and expressed their sympathy over the loss. They said Shah had been on official duty when the blast occurred and his service would be formally acknowledged by the department.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, Ravinder Raina said the families affected by the incident were facing a difficult time and that the nation recognised the contributions of those who lost their lives. He described the constable as dedicated to his work and said the incident had caused deep sorrow in the police force and community.

Raina also said that violence of any form creates long-lasting distress for families. He stated that those responsible for sending weapons and explosives across the border must understand the impact such actions have on civilians. In response to a question, Raina said that to become a suicide bomber is a cowardly act. He added that taking one’s own life or causing harm to others through such acts is not supported by any faith, noting that suicide is prohibited in Islam.

He said children who lose their parents in such incidents face unanswered questions and long-term consequences, underscoring the need to prevent further violence.

While talking to the reporters, LoP Sunil Sharma they have been visiting the slain families on the directions of the Home Minister Amit Shah. “We stand with these families and every possible help will be extended to them. Those who resort to violence can never be the wellwishers of common people,” he  said. [KNT]
