Kulgam,Sopore, Nov 12,: In a massive crackdown against the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Kulgam Police on Wednesday carried out coordinated raids at more than 200 locations across the district.
According to officials, the searches were conducted at the houses and premises of JeI members and their associates as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks supporting militancy and to neutralize their ground-level influence.
Sources said that during the past four days alone, more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) have been conducted across different areas of the district, including locations previously associated with encounters, militant hideouts, and Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
Officials confirmed that around 500 individuals with links to banned organisations, including JeI and JKNOPs, have been interrogated so far. Many of them have reportedly been bound down and shifted to District Jail Mattan in Anantnag under preventive detention laws.
During the raids, police seized incriminating documents, digital devices, and other materials of evidentiary value. Several JeI members were also questioned to trace wider networks allegedly aiding militant activities.
Police reaffirmed their zero-tolerance approach towards militancy and related support structures, stating that no element would be allowed to disturb peace and public order in Kulgam.
Sopore Police Raid Over 25 Locations Linked to Jamaat-e-Islami Network

In a major operation, Sopore Police on Wednesday launched an extensive crackdown against the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), conducting simultaneous raids at more than 25 locations across Sopore, Zaingeer, and Rafiabad areas.
Officials said the searches were carried out with the assistance of other security agencies, following credible intelligence inputs suggesting attempts by JeI-linked individuals to revive their activities under new fronts. The action, they said, forms part of the district-wide counter-militancy and anti-separatist campaign aimed at dismantling the underlying support structures.
During the operations, police recovered a large quantity of incriminating material, including documents, digital gadgets, and printed content associated with the banned outfit. The seized items have been sent for detailed examination. Several individuals have also been questioned to verify their potential involvement in unlawful activities.
Sources said the ongoing operations are preventive and intelligence-based, forming a part of Sopore Police’s sustained efforts to disrupt the ideological and logistical networks of banned organisations.
Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region, asserting that no individual or group would be allowed to disturb the security environment or exploit locals for anti-national activities. [KNT]
