‘LG Sinha Sitting on Files, Delaying Our Government’s Work; : Dr Farooq Abdullah

Jammu: National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday criticized the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, alleging that files concerning public welfare and government development work were being delayed unnecessarily.

“LG Sinha is sitting on files and delaying our government’s work. He should be a friend of the government and the people,” Abdullah said while speaking to reporters in Jammu. “If the administration becomes an obstacle instead of a facilitator, how will progress be achieved? The LG must understand that he represents the people’s aspirations, not merely the bureaucracy.”

The veteran leader said development and governance require coordination between elected representatives and the administration, warning that delays and procedural stagnation were harming public interest. “Governance is not about paperwork and files collecting dust; it is about serving the people on the ground,” he remarked.

Reiterating his long-held view of regional harmony, Abdullah said Jammu and Kashmir had always been one and would remain united. “Jammu and Kashmir are one, and Jammu will progress along with Kashmir. The people of both regions are bound by shared faith and language, and their unity will remain unshaken,” he said.

He congratulated the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and the people for their hospitality, calling their welcome a reflection of communal harmony and brotherhood.

On the restoration of statehood, Abdullah said, “Inshallah, it will be completed soon.” He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay attention to Jammu and Kashmir and provide relief to those affected by recent storms. “I request the Prime Minister to keep an eye on Jammu and Kashmir and help the people so that their problems can be resolved,” he added.

The National Conference President also expressed optimism about the upcoming by-elections in Banihal and Nagrota, saying the party had strong expectations from both constituencies. On the government’s performance, Abdullah said that while some promises had been fulfilled, more would be achieved in the remaining years of its tenure. [KNT]
