BJP MLAs Disrupt Assembly Over Jammu Calamities, Three  Legislators Evicted After Chaos in House

Srinagar:The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Thursday as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators created pandemonium in the House after the Speaker disallowed their adjournment motion seeking discussion on the recent natural calamities that caused widespread damage in parts of the Jammu division.

As the day’s proceedings began, BJP members stood up demanding that the Question Hour be suspended to discuss the impact of flash floods, landslides, and heavy rains which had hit several districts including Udhampur, Ramban, and Poonch. The Speaker, however, rejected the adjournment motion, saying that the issue could be raised during the Zero Hour.

The ruling triggered strong protest from BJP legislators who stormed into the well of the House, shouting slogans against the government and demanding immediate discussion. The ruckus grew louder as the members raised placards and banged tables, prompting the Speaker to repeatedly appeal for calm.

When the disruption continued, marshals were called in to restore order. Three BJP MLAs were evicted from the Assembly after they ignored multiple warnings from the Chair. National Conference (NC) legislators retaliated with slogans such as “Chor Machaye Shor” and “Chhoda say chhobees ka hisaab do,” accusing the BJP of creating drama for political mileage.

The noisy scenes forced a temporary adjournment of the Question Hour. Later, the proceedings resumed, but the opposition benches continued to exchange accusations. [KNT]
