Devyani Rana, accompanied by thousands of supporters, files nomination for Nagrota bypoll

Jammu: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Devyani Rana on Saturday filed her nomination papers for the upcoming Nagrota Assembly by-election in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to be held on November 11, 2025.

Rana, accompanied by senior BJP leaders and thousands of supporters, submitted her nomination before the returning officer in Jammu.

Speaking to reporters, Rana, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said she felt honoured to be contesting from Nagrota and expressed confidence that the people of the constituency would extend the same support and blessings to her as they had given to her late father, Devender Singh Rana.

She said her father’s greatest legacy was his hard work, honesty, and deep respect for everyone. “Rana Sahab treated everyone with love and dignity. These are the values I wish to carry forward,” she added.

Devyani Rana, daughter of the late Devender Singh Rana, the former Nagrota MLA whose demise necessitated the by-election had joined active politics earlier this year.

In January 2025, she was appointed as the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and LOP, Sunil Sharma said he is confident of Devyani Rana’s victory in the upcoming Nagrota Assembly by-election, describing her as the right candidate to represent the people and continue the legacy of late Devender Singh Rana—(KNO)
