Pulwama: An unidentified dead body was recovered on Tuesday near Kadlabal Chersoo in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.
Police sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the discovery was made by locals who noticed the body lying along a stretch near Kadlabal and immediately alerted authorities. A team from Awantipora Police Station rushed to the spot, took the body into custody, and initiated legal formalities.
“Cognizance has been taken. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to his death,” a police official said.
The body was later shifted for medico-legal examination. [KNT]
