Five Army Personnel Injured in Road Accident in Poonch’s Mankote Sector

Poonch: Five army personnel sustained injuries in a road accident that took place early Wednesday morning in Ghani area of Mankote sector in Poonch district.

According to official sources, the incident occurred at around 7:15 am when a Taverra vehicle bearing registration number JK02 AW-1387, driven by Safeer Ahmed, a local from Dhara Dullian, lost control while negotiating a curve on the Ghani road stretch. The vehicle was en route from Dhara Dullian towards Jammu when the mishap occurred.

The injured personnel, all belonging to the 7 Jaat Regiment and presently posted at Balnoi in Nangi Takeri, were travelling on leave. They were identified as Manoj, Phag, Hamid Agar, Ankit and M K Patil. Police said all five received minor injuries in the accident.

Immediately after the mishap, locals and police personnel from Mankote rushed to the site and extended assistance.

The injured were given first aid and subsequently a replacement vehicle was arranged to ensure the army men could continue their onward journey after receiving preliminary treatment. [KNT]
