Dr. Manzoor A. Mir Brings Honour to Kashmir With Stanford University Recognition

Srinagar: In a significant recognition of academic excellence, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Professor in the Department of Bioresources at the University of Kashmir, has been ranked among the world’s top 2 percent scientists by Stanford University, USA.

The prestigious global ranking, released annually in collaboration with Elsevier, identifies scientists across multiple disciplines based on their research output, citation impact, and career achievements. Dr. Mir has been listed in the field of Clinical Medicine with a specialization in Oncology and Carcinogenesis. His H-index stands at 17 with a career-long impact index of 8, reflecting his contribution to scientific literature.

According to the verified data, Dr. Mir has consistently appeared in the top 2 percent global list for the years 2023, 2024 and now 2025. His current global rank is 63,490, with a sub-field ranking of 600, placing him among internationally recognised names in cancer research.

Faculty members and students at the University of Kashmir hailed the recognition as a proud moment for the Valley. “This achievement reflects the growing visibility of Kashmiri scientists in the global knowledge economy. Dr. Mir’s contribution will inspire many young researchers to pursue careers in science,” a fellow academic said.

Dr. Mir’s research spans critical areas of oncology, focusing on carcinogenesis and related biomedical studies. His publications have received widespread citations in international journals, underlining their scientific impact.
