Indo-Australian Delegation Visits Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar

Srinagar: An Indo-Australian delegation comprising diplomats and senior officials from Australia visited the revered Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar on Tuesday to pay their respects.

The delegation was formally received by Dr. Darakhsha Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, along with other local administrators and members of the shrine’s management. The visitors were briefed on the history and sanctity of the Hazratbal Shrine, which holds immense reverence for Muslims across the Valley as it houses the sacred relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Officials present at the shrine said the diplomats showed deep interest in learning about the religious and cultural traditions associated with Hazratbal. They expressed appreciation for the spiritual atmosphere of the shrine, describing it as a unique symbol of Kashmir’s composite cultural identity.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Andrabi welcomed the delegation and highlighted the role of Hazratbal as a centre of devotion and peace. “This shrine is not only a place of immense religious value but also a symbol of harmony. It is heartening to see international delegates visiting here and showing respect,” she said.

The visit by the Australian officials was viewed as part of broader cultural engagement, reflecting the growing ties between India and Australia beyond trade and diplomacy. [KNT]
