Srinagar Police Attach Property of Notorious Drug Peddler

Srinagar, Sep 12, : Srinagar Police on Friday attached a residential property worth nearly ₹50 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Batamaloo area of the city.

The attached property is a single-storey house constructed on land measuring five marlas and 68 square feet, bearing Khasra No. 339. It is owned by Waseem Ahmad Bafanda, son of Ghulam Ahmad Bafanda, a resident of Lachmanpora, Dandrkha, Batamaloo.

Officials said the property was attached in connection with Case FIR No. 1/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Zadibal, in which Bafanda has been named as the accused. Investigations revealed that the house had been acquired through proceeds generated from drug trafficking.

Police described the accused as a habitual offender engaged in drug peddling, particularly targeting local youth and thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, authorities formally attached the immovable property, which can no longer be sold, transferred, or dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.

Srinagar Police said the action reflects its zero-tolerance approach to drug-related crimes and is part of a wider strategy to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
