Passenger Killed, Several Injured as Tempo Overturns on Jammu–Srinagar Highway

Udhampur: A man from Bihar lost his life and several others were injured on Thursday morning when a tempo overturned on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway near Celebration Hall, Battal Ballian.

The accident occurred around 4:30 AM when the vehicle, travelling from Jammu towards Udhampur, went out of control and turned turtle on the busy stretch of the highway. Passengers inside the tempo sustained injuries in the mishap.

All the injured were rushed to Government Medical College Udhampur, where doctors confirmed the death of one of the victims. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Shakeel, son of Irshad, a resident of Punia in Bihar.

Police have taken up the case and said further investigations are in progress. [KNT]
