Traffic on Jammu- Srinagar National Highway may resume by late evening today: Dr Jitendra Singh

Srinagar, Sep 08 (KINS): Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Monday said that teams of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are working round the clock to clear the blockade on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Thard and Bali Nallah in Udhampur district.

Sharing an update as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Dr Jitendra Singh said that the weather conditions have remained clear, which is helping restoration efforts.

“Hopefully, by late evening, it may be possible to start allowing traffic movement on the highway,” he stated.

Meanwhile, with road connectivity beyond Udhampur disrupted, the administration has put in place special measures to maintain the supply of essential commodities.

A newly introduced passenger train from Katra to Ramban Sangaldan is being used to ferry essential goods, which are then transported by road to Doda, Kishtwar, and other areas.

Authorities have appealed to the public to remain patient and follow official advisories until normal traffic resumes.(KINS)
