Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remains closed; Mughal road open for traffic as per advisory

Sriangar, Sept 08: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) continues to remain closed for vehicular movement on Monday morning due to ongoing restoration work at several blocked stretches.

Officials said the work is in progress and appealed to the public not to undertake any journey on the highway until it is fully restored.

Traffic police officials told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that the highway is still closed for vehicular movement from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar and vice versa due to a road blockage between Jakheni and Bali Nallah. He said that, as of now, no vehicular movement is allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Chenani, Patnitop, Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Srinagar, and vice versa.

Meanwhile, traffic is plying smoothly on the Mughal Road, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road, and Sinthan Road as per the advisory issued by the traffic authorities.

The Traffic Police Department has urged commuters not to pay heed to any rumours and instead check the latest updates through the official Twitter handle, Facebook page, and Traffic Control Units (TCUs) before planning travel.(KINS)
