40 schools closed due to floods, will reopen once situation improves: Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, Sept 8: Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Monday said that 40 schools remain closed in flood-affected areas and will reopen only when the situation improves and children’s health and education are not at risk.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said that schools were closed because of the floods, which affected their cleanliness and displaced people who have been shifted to these schools. “It’s been a while since the area has been opened. Forty schools have been shut down because of the floods, the cleanliness of the schools, and the people who are still affected by the floods, who have been shifted to these schools,” According to KNS
she said.

The minister added that the schools will remain closed until the situation gets better. “Until then, we will try to open these schools as soon as possible. We will also be satisfied that there will be no impact on the children’s health and no impact on the education of the children,” she said.

She also clarified that schools in other areas will remain open. “The rest of the schools will remain open,” she added.(KNS)
