SPO dies after falling into stream in Ramban’s Ramsoo,Two Persons Drown in Wular Lake, Rescue Operation Launched

Ramban,Bandipora, Sept 6,: A Special Police Officer (SPO) lost his life early Saturday morning after accidentally falling into a steep nalla near his duty post in Luroo area of Ramsoo, Ramban district.

Police sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the incident occurred early morning, when the cop, identified as Snatter Singh,, resident of Luroo, slipped and fell into the stream while on duty at Police Picket Luroo. He died on the spot.

The body was later retrieved and handed over to his relatives.

The police expressed condolences over the sudden demise of the officer, describing it as an unfortunate incident that occurred while he was serving in the line of duty.

Two Persons Drown in Wular Lake, Rescue Operation Launched

Two persons drowned in Wular Lake at Banyari area of Sumbal in Bandipora district on Saturday.

Officials said the incident occurred when the duo entered the lake and did not return. Following the reports, police teams from Bandipora rushed to the site to carry out immediate rescue efforts.

Authorities have also alerted the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which has been dispatched to the location to assist in the search and retrieval operation.

Notably, the water level on Wular Lake, one of Asia’s largest freshwater bodies, is on the rise.
