Crackdown Against Rotten Meat, Sweets,FDA’s violators list out, food licences of 9 dealers suspended

Srinagar, Aug 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday released the “much-awaited” list of nine suspended FSSAI licenses across Srinagar and Anantnag in its ongoing crackdown on rotten meat, synthetic cheese, and expired sweets, officials said.

The official list, exclusively available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), issued by the FDA, shows the suspension of licenses of several prominent meat and food outlets, including establishments in Lasjan, Zakura, Qamarwari, and Anantnag’s KP Road, Achabal, and Kadipora.

The action follows large-scale seizures reported earlier this week. As earlier reported by KNO, FDA teams had confiscated over 12,000 kg of meat, 21 quintals of synthetic cheese, and 440 quintals of expired rasgulla being pushed into markets ahead of the festival season.

The establishments with suspended licenses are: M/S Al-Taqwa Foods (Lasjan, Srinagar, Altaf Ahmad Chadinoo); M/S Aarif Enterprises (Bulbul Bagh, Tengpora, Srinagar); M/S Sunshine Foods (Industrial Estate, Zakura, Srinagar); M/S Anmol Foods (Parimpora Ghat, Qamarwari, Srinagar); M/S Jubilant Food Works Ltd. (Domino’s Pizza, KP Road, Anantnag); M/S Shaun Shahi Biryani (KP Road, Anantnag); M/S Shan Fish Fry (Achabal Adda, Anantnag); M/S Bismillah Sweets (Industrial Estate, Anantnag); and M/S Khanday Poultry (Kadipora, Anantnag).

The FDA in an earlier public notice, stated that the violators would face prosecution under the Food Safety Act, which prescribes penalties up to Rs 10 lakh, cancellation of licenses, and imprisonment of up to six years.

She also confirmed to KNO earlier that 12 food samples had been tested so far—four of them declared unsafe due to harmful synthetic colors.

Officials further said that investigations are underway and more establishments could face similar action in the coming days—(KNO)
