Kishtwar:The Indian Army constructed a temporary bridge over Chishoti Nallah in Kishtwar district to restore the movement of people after a cloudburst hit the region and disrupted local connectivity.
Officials said the cloudburst caused a heavy flow of water in the nallah, damaging the existing passage and leaving residents cut off. The swift intervention by the Army’s engineering teams ensured that essential connectivity was restored after several days of disconnectivity.
“The bridge was constructed on a war footing to allow safe movement of people and facilitate essential supplies,” an official told Kashmir News Trust.
Local residents expressed relief and gratitude, saying the Army’s quick response prevented further hardships in an already tense situation. “We were completely cut off, but thanks to the timely efforts of the Army, we are now able to move safely,” a villager said.
Notably, over 60 people died and hundreds went missing after a cloud burst in Chishoti village of Kishtwar. [KNT]
