Foolproof security on place for Independence Day celebration: SSP Sopore

Sopore, Aug 09: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Iftkhar Talib on Saturday said that multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations in the town.

Speaking on the sidelines of a bike rally, SSP Talib, per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the security measures have been enhanced to thwart any untoward incident.

He credited the people of Sopore and civil society for their cooperation in maintaining peace and enabling such public events to take place smoothly.

“The events happening are because of the people’s participation and their trust,” he said, adding that the build-up programmes will continue till August 15.

On drug menace, SSP Talib said the police are committed to cracking down on the trade, but public support remains crucial. “Those involved will face the law, but community involvement is necessary to eradicate this menace,” he said—(KNO)
