Chenab River Swells, Floods Low-Lying Areas; Public Advised to Stay Away

Doda: Rising water levels in the Chenab River in the Jammu region have caused flooding in several low-lying areas, prompting the local administration to issue an urgent advisory asking people to stay away from the riverbanks.

Officials confirmed that due to continuous rainfall in the upper reaches, the river is flowing at a dangerously high level, submerging nearby fields and creating a threat to residential pockets along its course. Authorities have alerted residents living near vulnerable zones to remain cautious.

Emergency response teams have been placed on standby, and people have been advised not to venture close to the river for any reason, including fishing, bathing, or photography. The district administration has assured that the situation is being monitored closely and further updates will be issued if necessary. [KNT]
