Body of Teenager Recovered Two Days After Drowning in Jhelum River at Baramulla

Baramulla, July 8 : The body of a teenage boy who drowned while bathing two days ago in the Jhelum River near Jetty Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, was recovered early Tuesday morning after continuous efforts by rescue teams.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the deceased was identified as Uzair Ahmad Ganaie, son of Mohammad Arif Ganaie, a resident of Sherwani Colony, Baramulla.

Uzair drowned while bathing near the riverbank on Sunday (July 6), triggering a joint search operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local volunteers, and Baramulla Police. His body was recovered from the same area on July 8 morning.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
It is important to mention that this is the fourth such teenage drowning incident in Baramulla district during the summer vacation. (JKNS)
