Srinagar, July 3,: Gulshan Ara, the mother of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar after she developed serious health complications.
Hospital sources told Kashmir News Trust that Gulshan Ara was brought to SKIMS Thursday morning and has since been under continuous medical supervision. Though details about her ailment have not been officially disclosed, insiders at the hospital said that her condition is being closely monitored by a team of specialists in the ICU.
A senior PDP leader confirmed the development and said, “Yes, Mehbooba Ji’s mother has been hospitalized at SKIMS. We request everyone to pray for her speedy recovery.”
Sources said Mehbooba Mufti, who was in Delhi on an official engagement, has curtailed her visit and is flying back to Srinagar to be with her ailing mother. Party functionaries and family members have already reached the hospital. [KNT]
