FFRC Directs Private Schools in J&K to Stop Forcing Advance Fee Payments

Srinagar, Jun 11,: The Committee for Fixation of Fee Structure of Private Education Institutions (FFRC), Jammu and Kashmir, has taken strong note of complaints that some private schools are compelling parents to deposit fees in advance for upcoming months.

Justice (Retired) Sunil Hali, Chairperson of the FFRC, directed all private schools in the Union Territory to collect tuition fees strictly on a month-to-month basis. The circular issued by Sunil Hali emphasized that no school should force parents to pay advance fees unless the parents themselves wish to do so.

“This Committee has already issued directions that parents should not be compelled to pay advance fee for future months. If any parent wants to deposit advance fee voluntarily, they may do so,” the circular stated.

The FFRC further warned that any violation of this directive would invite penal consequences under the law.

The circular has been widely circulated to the Secretary of the School Education Department, Directors of School Education, private schools across J&K, and the general public for strict compliance and awareness. [KNT]
