Jammu, June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a woman involved in the sale of illicit liquor in the Ramnagar area of Udhampur district and recovered 6 litres of country-made liquor from her possession.
According to a statement issued by the police spokesperson, acting on a specific tip-off, a team from Police Station Ramnagar conducted a raid in the Rasli Thakrai area. During the operation, 6 litres of illicit country liquor were recovered, while 85 litres of raw material used for brewing liquor were destroyed on the spot.
The spokesperson added that Pooja Devi, wife of Ravi Kumar, resident of Rasli Thakrai, was arrested on the spot. However, another accused, Radha Devi, wife of Ram Pal, managed to flee from the location.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Ramnagar, and further investigation is underway.
Illicit Liquor Trade Busted in Panchari, One Booked: Police Spokesperson
The District Police Udhampur have booked one person after recovering a large quantity of illicit liquor from a shop during a raid in the Panchari area. The action was taken following inputs received from local sources, marking a firm crackdown on illegal trade in the region.
According to the police spokesperson, based on specific information, a team from Police Station Panchari swiftly raided a shop and recovered a significant amount of illicit liquor. One person present at the scene was taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
The spokesperson further stated that under the directives of the district police chief, a campaign is ongoing against the illegal sale of liquor in the area, and strict action will be taken against those involved in disrupting the social fabric.
The general public has been urged to report any such unlawful activities to the police to help rid society of drugs and illegal trade.
