“Will Meet Families Affected by Pakistani Shelling”

Srinagar, May 23: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to visit Poonch in the Jammu region on Saturday, May 24, to meet families affected by the recent Pakistani shelling.

Kashmir News Service (KNS) has confirmed about the visit through senior Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior Congress leader in J&K told that Gandhi’s visit aims to stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and review the situation in the region that has witnessed recent hostilities.

This marks Gandhi’s second visit to Jammu and Kashmir following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and one local.

AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh confirmed the visit via a post on X:“Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri @RahulGandhi will be visiting Poonch tomorrow May 24th to meet the families bereaved during the shelling by Pakistan very recently.”

He added:“Earlier he had visited Srinagar on April 25th to meet with those injured during the brutal Pahalgam terror attack and many other stakeholders. He had also met with the LG and the CM then,” Ramesh posted.

During his last visit in Srinagar, Gandhi condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and said that such acts were aimed at dividing the people. He stressed the need for unity, declaring that India must come together to defeat terrorism once and for all.
