Goldsmith Helps Police Nab Fraudster in Budgam

Budgam, May 15,: Police in Magam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have arrested a man from Rakh Sultanpora, Baramulla, for attempting to sell fake gold, after a local goldsmith grew suspicious and promptly alerted authorities.

The jeweller’s timely action led to the arrest of the suspect before any transaction could take place. Officials confirmed that the individual was taken into custody on the spot.

An investigation is now underway to uncover whether the accused was acting alone or is part of a larger network involved in counterfeit gold scams. Police are also probing the origin of the fake items and potential markets targeted by the fraud.

Authorities have issued an advisory urging the public to exercise caution while dealing in gold and to get precious items authenticated through reliable sources. Poeple have also been asked to report any doubtful activity to the nearest police station. [KNT]
