URI, MAY 14:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited the border town of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to assess the ground situation in areas affected by recent cross-border shelling. During the visit, he met local residents and victims impacted by the shelling in villages including Salamabad, Lagama, Bandi, and Gingal.
Following the visit, Omar Abdullah shared his reflections through a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Office of Chief Minister, J&K.
“Visited shelling affected areas of Uri including Salamabad, Lagama, Bandi and Gingal.”
“This land has endured so much — from the impact of the 2005 earthquake to the pain of cross-border shelling. Yet, its people rise every time, with courage in their hearts and resilience in their spirit,” he wrote.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to support affected families and strengthen relief and rehabilitation measures in border areas.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister posted on X (formerly Twitter):“Heading to Uri today to meet those affected by the recent shelling. Over the past few days, I’ve witnessed immense pain, loss, and unimaginable courage of our people. These visits should have been to share joy, to speak of development — not to offer condolences. The pain of my people is deeply personal.”
