CM Omar Abdullah Visits Poonch After Cross-Border Shelling, Assures Relief and Rehabilitation

Poonch, May 12: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reached Poonch early Monday morning to assess the situation following the recent cross-border shelling that claimed several lives.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said he would be meeting the bereaved families to offer his condolences. “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our people remains our top priority,” he wrote.

ImageLater in the day, the Chief Minister is scheduled to chair a meeting with the district administration to review the on-ground situation and monitor the progress of relief and rehabilitation measures being implemented after the ceasefire.

The visit comes amid rising tensions along the Line of Control, with local residents urging authorities for long-term safety measures and adequate compensation.
