Kashmir to see continued weather instability till May 12

Srinagar, May 8
: According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions in the Kashmir Valley are expected to remain unstable over the next four days.

A spokesperson for the department stated that on May 8, the weather will remain generally cloudy, with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder at several places across the valley. He added that on May 9 and 11, isolated areas may experience thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall, along with gusty winds.

The spokesperson further informed that on May 12, there is also a chance of a brief spell of rain with thunder at isolated locations. However, the weather is expected to remain largely dry from May 13 to 17.

In its advisory, the department has urged the public to follow administrative and traffic advisories. People have been warned to avoid boating or using shikaras in Dal Lake, Wular Lake, and other water bodies during periods of strong winds. The advisory also cautions that intense rainfall may trigger landslides or mudslides at vulnerable spots.

Additionally, the department noted that from May 13 onwards, a significant rise in daytime temperatures is expected, particularly in the Jammu region.
