Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along; Indian Army Responds Firmly: Army

File Photo

Srinagar, May 01: A fresh escalation following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire late on the night of April 30 across multiple sectors of the Line of Control (LoC), targeting Indian forward positions opposite Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

According to defence sources, the Indian Army responded with a “proportionate and calibrated” retaliation to the ceasefire violations. No casualties have been reported on the Indian side so far, though a detailed assessment is underway.

This comes just days after a major terrorist strike in Pahalgam that left multiple civilians dead, with intelligence agencies attributing the attack to Pakistan-based terror groups. Tensions have since been high along the LoC, with security forces placed on heightened alert.

The Indian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace along the LoC but has warned of “firm and decisive” responses to any provocation. (KNS)
