Tarigami Pitches for  Inclusive Dialogue Between Delhi & J&K

Jammu, Apr 28, KNT: Veteran CPI(M) leader and legislator Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami on Monday voiced serious concerns over security failures while speaking at the special Assembly session convened to pay homage to the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
Tarigami expressed disappointment over the absence of key security decision-makers from the House, questioning who was accountable for the lapses. “We have gathered here, but those who hold the reins of security are conspicuously missing. To whom should I pose my questions?” he asked, highlighting a gap between governance and responsibility.
Taking a critical view of media narratives, Tarigami lamented how public debate often veers into religious polarisation rather than addressing real issues of citizen safety. “The real threat isn’t to any faith but to the lives and security of ordinary people, especially those in Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.
Calling for a shift in approach, Tarigami stressed the need for genuine political engagement with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Our voices must reach Delhi. Without sincere reconciliation and inclusive decision-making, any initiatives taken will remain fragile,” he cautioned.
He further reminded both the government and the public of their shared duty to safeguard the future generations of the region. “If corrective measures aren’t taken urgently, the perpetrators of violence will have succeeded in their sinister aims,” he warned. [KNT]
