Hunt for Clues Intensifies in Wake of Deadly Pahalgam Assault, Police Raids Target Houses of Active Militants in South Kashmir

Awantipora, Apr 25,: In a major post-attack crackdown, police on Friday launched a series of searches in multiple locations across Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, targeting the residences of active militants suspected to have links to the recent Pahalgam attack.

Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust (KNT) that police parties from Awantipora carried out searches at the homes of several militants believed to be on the run. The operation aims to uncover any leads connected to the deadly assault in Pahalgam earlier this week, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, most of them tourists.

A senior police officer confirmed that “thorough and targeted searches” are underway, particularly focusing on the residences of local militants believed to be part of the group responsible for the attack. “We are following leads that could provide insight into the planning and execution of the Pahalgam attack,” the officer said.

Notably, two residential houses, one belonging to Asif Ahmed of Monghama Tral and another to Aadil Thokar of Bijbehara were demolished earlier this morning. Police have claimed that both men are active militants and linked to the attack.

Security agencies have intensified efforts across South Kashmir in what officials describe as a determined move to dismantle the militant network suspected to be behind the attack. [KNT]
