Shopian, Apr 25,: Intensifying the crackdown following the deadly Pahalgam attack, police on Friday conducted extensive searches at the houses of overground workers (OGWs) and militant sympathizers across South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Police officials told KNT that the operation was part of an ongoing effort to trace those who may have provided logistical or other support to the militants involved in the April 22 attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists.
“Houses of suspected OGWs are being searched thoroughly as we hunt for any possible clue that could lead us to the attackers or their associates,” Police sources said.
The search operations were not limited to Shopian alone. Similar raids were carried out in other districts of South Kashmir, including Pulwama and Anantnag, as security agencies coordinate efforts to dismantle any networks that may have assisted the perpetrators.
The Pahalgam attack has triggered widespread outrage and alarm, prompting security forces to step up their surveillance and intelligence-gathering across the region. [KNT]
