Samba, Apr 21: A 30-year-old woman and a 19-year-old youth were found hanging in a rented room in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district on Monday.
Police sources told news agency JKNS that the woman, a native of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh, was married, while the youth also hailed from Hardoi but belonged to a different village. Both were working at a pencil factory in the industrial area of Bari Brahmana.
The bodies were discovered in the Barjani area and later taken into custody by police. Sources said the remains have been sent for post-mortem and investigations are underway to ascertain whether the deaths were a case of suicide, a possible love affair, or involved other circumstances.
Cognizance of the incident has been taken, a case has been registered, and further proceedings are underway. (JKNS)
