Kishtwar encounter: 2 more terrorists killed, toll rises to 3

Kishtwar: Death toll in the ongoing Chhatru encounter in Kishtwar District rose to three with the killing of two more terrorists last night, officials said on Saturday.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the operation was launched in Chhatru forest area of Kishtwar District on April 9, after suspicious movement of terrorists was noticed by alert forces.

Army in a statement said: “Despite challenging terrain and inclement weather conditions, security forces have neutralized two additional terrorists, bringing the operation closer to ensuring the region’s safety.”

In a recent update, the Army’s White Knight Corps reported the recovery of a substantial cache of war-like stores, including one AK rifle and one M4 rifle, underscoring the operation’s impact in disrupting terrorist activities.

“The operation, launched on April 9 in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist presence in the region.

Operations are ongoing to ensure all threats are neutralized, with security forces continuing their relentless efforts to safeguard civilians and eliminate terrorism in the region,” the statement added—(KNO)
