MeT Predicts Rain, Snow in Kashmir; Advises Caution from April 8-11

Srinagar: The Meteorological Department on Monday forecast a spell of light rain and snowfall over higher reaches of north and central Kashmir starting April 8, with more unsettled weather expected to continue through April 11.
According to an official from the MeT department, the weather is expected to turn generally cloudy by the afternoon of April 8, followed by light snowfall over higher elevations later in the evening. This will be accompanied by a drop in temperatures across many parts of the Valley.
From April 9 to 10, the department has predicted intermittent spells of light rain and snow at various places across the Kashmir division and at a few scattered locations in the Jammu region.
Thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 KMPH are also expected during this period, prompting the department to issue an advisory, particularly for farmers, urging them to suspend agricultural activities during these days.
On April 11, weather conditions are expected to remain generally cloudy with chances of light rain and snow (especially over higher altitudes) in the morning, followed by gradual improvement later in the day.
The MeT official further said that the weather is likely to stabilize and remain mostly dry from April 12 to April 17. However, another spell of rain and snowfall is expected to return between April 18 and 20, affecting higher reaches of both Jammu and Kashmir regions.
In view of the changing weather conditions, travelers, tourists, and transporters have been advised to stay updated with weather bulletins and follow instructions issued by the administration and traffic department to avoid any potential inconvenience.
