Discussion on Unadmitted Petition Valid; Stresses Freedom of Expression: Sajad Lone

Srinagar: In a strong statement supporting democratic values, Handwara MLA Sajad Lone said that discussing a petition that has not yet been admitted is valid and within the bounds of public discourse.

Speaking to KNS, he said you may not know that the petition has not been admitted yet. So, technically, this is a subject of discussion,” Lone said, emphasizing that there is no restriction on discussing issues of public importance.

He further added, “We can do this. We can have a discussion. That’s why this is happening — because people want to talk about it. People’s wishes, people’s opinions — whether you agree or not, that’s a different matter. But when you speak or express your opinion, there is no ban.”
His statement comes at a time when debates on several key issues are ongoing, and it reinforces the need for dialogue and inclusivity in decision-making. (KNS)
