Will Write to Home Minister Amit Shah Against ‘Undemocratic’ Transfers, Say Sources
Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called an emergency meeting of legislators to register strong opposition against the recent transfer of 48 JKAS officers by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha—an administrative move the elected government views as a direct encroachment on its authority.
Sources told KNS the meeting, being held under the chairmanship of Omar Abdullah, will finalise a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing displeasure over the transfers and terming them as a violation of the people’s mandate in Jammu and Kashmir.
The agenda is also expected to cover key political issues, including the restoration of statehood and the implications of the recently passed Waqf Bill in Parliament, which could have significant impact on the Muslim-majority Union Territory.
