Amid row over transfers, J&K LG says ‘fully aware of my jurisdiction’

Srinagar: Amid criticism over recent administrative transfers, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has firmly defended the decisions, stating that all actions have been carried out strictly within the constitutional framework laid down in the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.

“I want to make it absolutely clear — the Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act in 2019, and I have acted entirely within the domain defined by that Act,” Sinha said according to Kashmir Dot Com, addressing concerns raised by political parties and alliance members.
He further said that he has never overstepped his constitutional boundaries and assured that he would never do so in the future. “I am fully aware of my jurisdiction and responsibilities. I have never violated them, nor will I ever do so,” the LG added.

The statement comes in response to the backlash following a series of transfers that alliance parties have condemned and an infringement on democratic norms. (KDC)
