PDP Clarifies Social Media Restrictions, Says Order Not for Volunteers, Supporters, Well-Wishers

Srinagar: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified that its recent directive restricting engagement on social media applies only to office bearers and not to party workers or well-wishers.
PDP’s Social Media Head, Syed Tajamul Islam, said that the order, which barred office bearers from making unauthorized statements on social media, does not affect general workers, wellwishers or supporters and volunteers. He emphasized that only those directly affiliated with the PDP office are required to seek prior consent before making public statements.
“The order is applicable only to those holding official positions in the party. However, workers and well-wishers  and volunteer’s are free to engage on social media in a civilized manner,” Islam said, dispelling concerns over broader restrictions.
The clarification has been issued on the directions of party general secretary Muhammad Khurshid Aalam. The PDP leadership has reiterated its commitment to regulated communication, ensuring that only authorized spokespersons represent the party’s official stance. [KNT]
