Fire Damages Several Residential Houses in Jammu Kashmir’s Srinagar

Srinagar: A fire broke out in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar on Saturday morning, damaging more than residential houses, officials said.

According to an official from the Fire and Emergency Services, the department was alerted about the incident, and fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site. However, by the time they arrived, at least five residential houses had already been engulfed in flames, which later spread to other structures. Some structures have been partially damaged.

Efforts were launched to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. “The exact number of houses affected is still being assessed,” the official added.

No casualties have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the extent of the damage and the circumstances that led to the incident. As per initial impression, an electric short circuit is the potential reason for the fire.

Further details are awaited.
