Schools in Gurez to Remain closed till March 15 due to inclement weather

Gurez: In view of heavy snowfall, avalanche threats, the authorities have ordered the closure of all the schools in Gurez Subdivision until March 15, 2025, to ensure the safety of students and staff.

According to an order, issued by SDM Gurez, the movement of students and school staff has been severely affected due to the prevailing weather conditions, making it unsafe for schools to function.

“Considering the safety and well-being of all concerned, it is hereby ordered that all schools in Gurez Subdivision shall remain closed up to March 15, 2025,” the order reads.

All heads of institutions have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the directive, it added.

The decision comes as Gurez experienced heavy snowfall, disrupting normal life and posing risks of avalanches in several areas—(KNO)
